1969 Jaguar E-Type

1969 Jaguar E-Type Vin #1R8837 Engine: 4.2 Liter DOHC Incline 6 Transmission: 4 speed manual Mileage: 65355 The Jaguar E-Type, also known as the 'XKE' in the US, has stood the test of time and remains an iconic figure in pop-culture, automotive design, and character. Its original Series I version, released in 1961, received praise from car enthusiasts for its stunning beauty and impressive performance. Fans of the brand even claim that Enzo Ferrari himself considered the E-Type, especially in its open two-seater form, as the most gorgeous car ever produced. The success of the Series I E-Type, particularly in North America, prompted the development of the Series II, which was introduced in 1968 and tailored largely to the standards of the burgeoning U.S. National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration. The result was minor design changes to the Series II, consisting of exterior modifications such as larger front turn signals, a wrap-around rear bumper, and taillights located below the bumper. The front grille was also enlarged, and the cooling infrastructure and brakes were improved for better safety and performance. Inside, the dashboard was redesigned, and headrests were added to comply with NHTSA standards. The Series II was offered in three body styles: Coupe, Roadster, and 2+2. Between August 1968 and October 1970, a total of 8,628 Series II E-Type Roadsters were produced by Jaguar. These vehicles were equipped with a 4.2L DOHC Inline-6 cylinder engine, which was also used in the Series I. However, the engines used in the North American market had a dual-carburetor setup instead of the standard triple-carb setup due to smog regulations. This resulted in a reduction of performance to 246 horsepower and 263 lb/ft of torque, which is 20 less than the standard. (do we know how rare this exact car is?) This 1969 Series II E-Type comes with a record trace certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, which states that it was built on March 19, 1969 and sent to the New York British Leyland distributor on April 10, 1969 for the North American market. The original specifications indicate that it had a Light Blue exterior, Dark Blue interior, and a black hood (top). It was first received by its owner in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida on May 19, 1969. The record trace also includes other the vehicle details: Vin/Chassis: 1R8837 Engine:7R4534-9 Body: 4R2990 Gearbox: KE6266 This E-Type now resides with its third owner in New York, presenting only 65,355 original miles and like-original condition, This lot comes with receipts and records documenting a thorough restoration of the interior, hood, and convertible top, as well as the installation of a new exhaust system, braking system, and clutch assembly.
