Cecil C. Bell Oil/Canvas "The Rug Auction"

Cecil C. Bell, American (1906-1970) Oil on Canvas "The Rug Auction". Signed lower right, artist's estate stamp verso. Measures 25" x 30", frame measures 30-1/4" x 35". Born in Seattle, Bell (1906-1970) studied printmaking at the Chicago Art Institute before moving to New York to study at the Art Students League with John Sloan. He remained in New York, eventually settling in Staten Island with his wife, and most of his paintings depict famous locations around the city. Largely unknown during his lifetime, a retrospective was held at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, following his death in 1973. Condition: Good condition.
