2006 Ford GTX1

2006 Ford GTX1 Vin #1FAFP90SX6Y400448 Engine: 5.4 Liter DOHC Supercharged V8 Transmission: 6 speed manual Mileage: 2650 This 2006 Ford GT is one of a purported 38 cars to have undergone the Ford-sanctioned GTX1 program. Originally intended to be a production run of 500 examples, (12.5% of total GT production) the purpose of the GTX1 program was the realization of designer and SVT Chief Engineer, Kip Ewing's, concept of the same name. Ewing tapped the GTX1 nomenclature in order to invoke a modern interpretation of the little known GT40 X1 racing car, which won the Sebring 24 Hour race in 1966, sans roof, at the hands of none other than the legendary Ken Miles. Therefore, the heritage and racing pedigree linked to the GTX1 name is undeniable The original concept of this limited-edition masterpiece was unveiled at the renowned Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show, garnering immediate acclaim and admiration from industry professionals and enthusiasts alike. In order to fulfill the GTX1's production, Ford commissioned coach-builder, Genaddi Design Group, to establish an after-sales program which would see all 500 cars delivered to their workshop in Wisconsin where the work was carried out. However, shortly after the program commenced, Genaddi slipped into financial turmoil, resulting in the eventual collapse of the company, and subsequently the GTX1 program. It is believed that only 38 cars were ever fully completed by Genaddi before they dissolved, this example being #29. Per Genaddi, the $48,000 GTX1 conversion package consisted of: - Counter measures for frontal impact of cowl rotation and other components to strengthen the chassis are made from aircraft sandwich baffling and aircraft bonding adhesives. - Windshield header is modified with a support aluminum casting and cover. - Door modifications are made to the upper door area. - Rear firewall is modified with aluminum extrusions and aluminum head fairing cover. - Clamshell is modified with carbon fiber inner structure and aluminum outer. - All affected areas of the A surface are color matched to the rest of the car including stripes if they are on the car Receipts, as well as photos documenting the conversion process are included with this lot. Alongside the exterior modifications, tasteful interior touches were also included by Genaddi such as GTX1 branded floor mats and door sills. Following its completion by Genaddi, in March 2010, this GTX1 was transported to its original designer, Kip Ewing himself, in order to receive a custom 1 piece carbon fiber roof insert, as well as a carbon fiber front lip spoiler, and a carbon fiber interior speaker enclosure ($1900). The carbon fiber roof insert is one of only a handful ever produced, making it an extremely desirable and valuable piece. Other work, also performed by Ewing, is detailed in the receipts included with this lot. Since finalizing the GTX1 conversion in August 2010, this example has remained with its original owner, where it has covered merely 2,650 original miles. This GTX1 is powered by its original 5.4-liter all aluminum V8 engine with the Lysholm twin-screw supercharger, which produces a remarkable 550 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. This engine's capabilities are beautifully translated through a Ricardo six-speed manual transmission, which delivers power smoothly and efficiently to the rear wheels. The clutch is light and manageable, further contributing to an effortless driver's experience. This example left the factory in 2006 well specified with $13,600 in optional equipment, having all 4 of the primary options, including BBS forged lightweight aluminum wheels, Gun Metal Grey painted brake calipers, Metallic Silver GT stripes, and the McIntosh Audiophile System. The Tungsten Grey Metallic paint was only offered for 2006 model year GT's and this example is one of only 541 GT's in total (27% of total 2006 production) to have been finished with it. In terms of GTX1's, this example is one of only 5 purported cars to have been completed by Genaddi. In comparison to the standard Ford GT, this GTX1 distinguishes itself by largely staying true to form, yet features a variety of tasteful and unique upgrades, as well as a further degree of historical and racing pedigree.
