Though this generation shared many engineering qualities with the first iteration of the Camaro, including a unibody rear structure and front subframe, extensive research and development stemming from the Camaro racing effort led to further refinement of the chassis and overall performance. Notably, as opposed to the first-generation, the second was developed exclusively in coupe form, with the intention of pushing the platform towards speed and driver engagement in order to adequately compete in the burgeoning Pony-Car segment. When the second-generation Camaro stormed into the Pony-Car scene, it quickly made a name for itself, featuring aggressively angular body lines and a wide variety of powertrains capable of producing well over 350hp. However, due to the encroachment of external factors, such as the Oil Crisis and U.S. Federal Environmental Regulations, the Camaro, alongside other cars of the period saw a gradual decline in performance as well as changes in appearance in order to appease guidelines. By 1974, due to regulations, the second-generation Camaro saw its first major update, growing a further seven inches in length, thanks to new aluminum bumpers and sporting a forward-sloping grille which was required to meet federal standards. It was also the last year to have a flat rear window, with thick roof pillars. Second-generation models produced for the following years had slimmer roof pillars and a wraparound rear window for better visibility. The round taillights were also replaced with a rectangular wrap-around design. Further notable design changes which followed in later second-generation models included moving the emblem from the center of the grille to above the grillework and the "Camaro" nameplate was deleted from the rear decklid. Also new block letter "Camaro" nameplates replaced the previous scripts on the front fenders. Later, in 1976, the Camaro featured new body-colored urethane bumpers front and rear and amber turn-signals were added to the taillights. By 1980, engine performance had drastically declined as a result of the continuously devolving Oil Crisis and emissions regulations, to the point where the highest performance option produced a mere 175 horsepower. This 1980 Chevrolet Camaro, which has undergone extensive restoration and modification now presents a stark contrast of form and function in comparison to its original specifications. Finished in a custom coat of the encapsulating Lamborghini Orancio Borealis, courtesy of Haus of Kolors, and featuring a fully restored interior with custom touches, this Camaro is unlike any other. With no expense spared, this Camaro benefits from a modicum of performance modifications which further encapsulate the outrageous nature of this restomod. Most notably, this Camaro is powered by a brand-new GM Performance LS2 V8 crate motor, harnessed through a 4L60 4-Speed Automatic transmission, and translated by an overhauled ECU and Transmission electrical harness. In order to put this newfound power to the ground, the suspension has been swapped, featuring a brand-new Hotchkis TVS Sport Suspension system and new 18î US Mag Wheels, finished in Silver/Black, and wrapped in fresh Nitto G2 rubber (235/40/18 up front and 275/40/18 in the rear). Other refreshments, such as AutoMeter Phantom II gauges, new exterior glass and trims, Optima battery, reinforced driveshaft, an aluminum radiator, and rebuilt cooling system were also recently completed in order to compliment the final package. Since the completion of this restomod in early 2023, this Camaro has since remained at the shop where much of the work was performed, currently unregistered, having covered only a handful of test-driving miles.
